Dr. Roxy Rodriguez is from Ponce, Puerto Rico. She completed the pre-veterinary program at University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez Campus in 2009. In 2013, she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Louisiana State University. Dr. Rodríguez completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery, as well as a specialty ophthalmology internship at Auburn University. From 2015-2018, she completed a residency in Ophthalmology at Auburn University in conjunction with her Master’s of Science degree. There she met her fiancé, Dr. Ethan Hefner. While he completed his residency, she spent 3 years as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Being from an island, Dr. Rodriguez is glad to live close to the beach again. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors (hiking, running), traveling and spending time with her family and pets.
