Dr. Bowyer earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal and Veterinary Science from Clemson University in 2015, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University in 2020. During her residency, she also completed a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Biomedical Science at Kansas State University in 2025.
Her advanced clinical training includes a rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania (2021), an Ophthalmology Specialty Internship at Kansas State University (2022), and completion of her Ophthalmology Residency at Kansas State University in 2025. That same year, she became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) and joined the Animal Eye Care team.
Dr. Bowyer’s passion for ophthalmology began before veterinary school, inspired by her own family dog who went blind from complications of diabetic cataracts. She loves the specialty’s unique blend of medicine and surgery and enjoys working with a wide variety of species, including horses. Her special interests include feline ophthalmology and cataract surgery.
Outside of work, Dr. Bowyer enjoys spending time with her pets: Kona, a Husky mix who competes with her in Rally Obedience and agility; Willow, her American Saddlebred horse whom she has raised since a foal; and Junior, her sweet domestic shorthair cat. In her free time, she can often be found cooking, experimenting with new recipes, horseback riding, or hiking with Kona.
